My students complete a Biome in a Box project at the end of our unit. They are expected to include 5 plant and animal species in the project. I really encourage students to get creative and make their project look realistic. This is the rubric I created for students to use as they complete the project. I also included a place at the bottom to calculate the grade.

Animal Habitat Diorama Project
This is an at-home activity used when we study animals and their habitats.
I have included the direction sheet and a rubric.
Students are to make a diorama and a short presentation in class.
I used this in 2nd grade, but you might be able to use this in 1st or 3rd grade as well.
My students love this kind of project because they have a choice about which habitat to create and because they love making dioramas.
