This Social Story is designed to introduce the First…Then concept to students. It illustrates that students have to meet expectations, in order to earn choices and rewards. It helps students to complete non-preferred tasks in order to earn a break or time that they can engage in a preferred task. The teacher should work with the student to establish preferred tasks that would be acceptable throughout the course of the day.

This social story is designed to introduce the First…Then and If…Then concepts to students. First …Then teaches students to demonstrate expected behaviors in order to earn coupons as a part of the classroom reward system.
