This unit provides a wonderful opportunity to teach children grades 1-5 the necessary concepts and vocabulary in order to be successful with measuring capacity and volume. These lessons are hands-on, rich in vocabulary and have various levels of focus questions. This set of Boom Cards gives students practice comparing numbers to 20. It uses the cutest alligator GIFs that the student can manipulate to make the number sentence true. The first 10 slides use numbers to 10. The next 10 slides include numbers to 20. Students use are encouraged to say the completed number sentence aloud using the math language - greater than, less than, equal to. This record sheet will help your students gather raw data in the form of heads or tails. Use this data to look for patterns and then add up the class data to compare to. Discussion topics include percentages, chance, and cause/effect relationships.

This data sheet is for use with finding data on pumpkins. We used several different pumpkins and then compared the data using the data sheets. The data sheet includes measuring with non-standard items as well as reviewing adjectives, color words, and number skills. I hope this data sheet helps you in your lesson planning!

Fall Pumpkin Counting Collection/Observation
Students work in groups to record observations including size of pumpkin and properties of the pumpkin. They then open up their pumpkin and count the seeds as a collection. Counting collections is POWERFUL.
