I have taught for over thirty years in a small rural school in Southwest Georgia. I teach Reading and Writing. I have been developing my own lessons because I teach remedial to gifted students. I needed to customize instruction to meet the needs of my students. I have sponsored Student Council, co-sponsored Jr. Beta, and direct Drama Club. I am enjoying teaching children of former students from this small, tight-knit community.
My teaching style can be summed up in three words: structure, humor, and encouragement. Building relationships with students does more to increase learning than anything. If students know you care about them, they begin to care about themselves as well. I don't mind making fun of myself and enjoy a good laugh with my students.
Letters, cards, and emails from former students thanking me for making a difference in their lives. So humbling and amazing.
I am a product of the public schools and a graduate of Florida State University where I graduated Cum Laud. I am endorsed to teach the gifted and talented.
I am a musician and write drama productions for my students to perform. I am happily married to my best friend. We have three sons: a cyber security expert, a seminary student, and an engineering major.
