Australian Issues: Oral Presentation Planning and Assessment Booklet
This is a booklet I created for a year 9 oral presentation assessment task. This booklet includes instructions, a list of topics to choose from, planning pages and a rubric. I have also included 'reliable source' links for studnets to use for their research. On the day of their presentation, students were required to submit this booklet along with a transcript of their presentation. I use this every day in my class. It is easy to adapt to different grades. You can use them separately, or all together to make it more difficult. This is an oral language activity that can be done with any class level. On each card there are the names of three items. The object of the activity is for the pupils to compose a story, and orally tell it, incorporating all three items. The more you do this activity, the better pupils become at it. The story can range from junior pupils telling a story of three sentences, with one of the words/phrases in each sentence, to a more complex story structure from pupils in senior classes.
