This trial is based off of the book , The Trial of Cardigan Jones, by Tim Egan. It is a mock literary trial where students take roles of the character from the book and decide if the main character is innocent or guilty. The kids get dressed up and have an absolute blast! I have tied this activity into lessons about inferencing, character, and bias. It is made with fourth graders in mind, but a group of high level third graders can pull this off too.
