You may hear stories of people who grow up dreaming of owning their own businesses. That’s not me. I was perfectly happy to teach in a classroom until I retired. But, my life was turned upside down. A few years ago, I was forced to leave the classroom after being diagnosed with a serious medical condition. At the time, I was completely bedridden and unable to walk. The one thing I could do was sit in bed and create lessons for other teachers. At that time, I decided to make it my life’s purpose to help other teachers save time and find exciting ways to engage students. Since then, Vestal’s 21st Century Classroom has grown to help thousands of upper elementary teachers transform their classrooms with hands-on learning and digital resources that incorporate the twenty-first century skills students need to succeed! Teachers who have used my resources say they saved time planning and that their students were engaged. As a former Virginia teacher, I know how difficult it is to find high-quality resources aligned to the Virginia Standards of Learning (SOLs). I used to spend hours of my personal time every week creating my own SOL-aligned resources. This led to some serious teacher burnout. When I started Vestal’s 21st Century Classroom, I wanted to fill this need for Virginia teachers. My goal is for you to leave the classroom on time, knowing you have engaging, SOL-aligned prepared for your students the next day. That’s why every resource in my Shop is specifically aligned to the Virginia SOLs. I’ve also created a one of a kind program for upper elementary teachers called the Virginia Teacher Club®. With the Virginia Teacher Club®, our members save hours of planning time every week with access to our Virginia teacher curriculum library– a library of SOL-aligned resources organized by SOL. All you have to do is click on the subject and SOL that you are teaching to instantly open a wide variety of no-prep lesson plans, worksheets, games, activities, and assessments for that SOL.
