I am currently a middle school technology teacher. Prior to this, I taught upper elementary. Prior to this, I was a trainer and graphic designer employed at corporate entities, the last of which was Jewelry Television. In addition to being a graphic designer, I also made a living via photography and videography and I make use of those skills in the classroom to bring an unorthodox style of teaching to the classroom.
I am big on problem-based learning and inquiry, I believe that children and people create their own knowledge based on their own personal experiences. I also believe that instruction should prepare children for the real world, not just the classroom or the next test. I stress this belief in everything I do in the classroom. I am also a big believer in productive struggle to counter the "entitlement mindset" and learned helplessness we are currently experiencing in the classroom.
Yet to be added
I possess a bachelor's degree in k-6 education, a Master's degree in teacher Leadership, and an EdS in school leadership with a concentration in data analysis and research.
I have a varied and colorful background. Over the past couple of decades, I have honed my skills as a videographer, editor, and most of all a graphic designer. I have worked for clients such as McDonald's, Ford, GMC, Chase, Wells Fargo, etc. I have experience in real-world settings and I use that insight to help my students be prepared to face it confidently.
