For over 20 years, I have taught high school students various science subjects, including integrated science, biology, chemistry, physics, physical science, and STEM. Additionally, I bring over seven years of valuable experience guiding middle school students through physical science, medical science, project-based learning (PBL), and STEM education.
My teaching approach centers around inquiry-based learning in a student-focused classroom. I empower my students to participate actively in their educational journey by encouraging them to explore and discover concepts through thought-provoking questions and open-ended challenges. By placing students at the core of the learning process, I create an atmosphere that ignites their innate curiosity and leads to deeper understanding and lasting knowledge. I facilitate discussions, guide investigations, and provide resources allowing students to develop critical thinking skills and engage in collaborative problem-solving. This approach equips them with subject-specific knowledge and nurtures their ability to think independently and apply their learning to real-world scenarios, preparing them for success both inside and outside the classroom.
I graduated magna cum laude and was a member of the Golden Key National Honor Society.
I am actively pursuing a master's degree in curriculum and instruction to enhance my teaching abilities and educational expertise. My academic journey began with a Bachelor of Arts in secondary education, specializing in biology, from Arizona State University (ASU). This foundation equipped me with a comprehensive understanding of educational principles and content knowledge specific to my field. Additionally, I hold an Associate of Arts degree, signifying a broader academic background that has contributed to my holistic approach to teaching and learning.
My current fervor for curriculum design can be traced to my fellow science educators' collaborative endeavors as we steadfastly endeavor to furnish our students with a comprehensive NGSS-aligned educational experience. Over the years, I have delved deeply into the NGSS performance expectations, cultivating an appreciation of their importance and the essence of three-dimensional learning. I have dedicated countless hours to creating, refining, and aligning lessons, activities, and instructional materials. However, the core objective driving the curriculum I will sell is to present meticulously developed, phenomenon-driven, three-dimensional, and NGSS-aligned curricular materials.
