TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I taught daycare and preschool for 8+ years through college and finally became a teacher! I student-taught 4th grade and loved the elementary level, but God had another plan for me. I was hired full-time at an inner-city high school to teach business/technology courses. I loved every minute of it. I feel like I found my calling! I've been teaching high school business education courses since 2012.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I think of myself as a demonstrator in the classroom. I like to teach by demonstrating skills and processes and then guide the students by helping them develop and apply the skills and knowledge. It's important that my students can work independently to solve other problems using the methods demonstrated. I try to encourage student participation during lessons and often adapt my lessons to reach the different learning styles of each student. I expect my students to take responsibility for learning what they need to know and for asking for help when they don't understand something. Due to my classroom being a computer lab, many of my lessons are delivered through online resources and are interactive.
