I have been working in a school environment since 2004, first as a Language Monitor, then as an Educational Assistant, and finally as a teacher. I was a substitute teacher for almost 6 years before I finally landed a permanent position. Most of my experience has been within the middle grades, where I feel most comfortable. Because
I am a very structured, organized teacher. I adapt easily for my special needs students. I am also a compassionate teacher who loves her students and I make myself available for them whenever they need me. It's not uncommon for me to miss a break, lunch or stay late after school to chat with a student or a parent. I love for my students to discover through play and prefer to let them discover things on their own whenever possible. I believe kids learn better that way. I also like for things to move in my classroom. We take frequent active brain breaks and I create a lot of lessons that allow my students to move around a lot. My students's mental health comes first, always. If a child isn't well, he or she won't learn.

My entire education, from Kindergarten to Post-Secondary, was done in French, my first language, in a small town in Northern Ontario. Before I took my BA in Education, I did a graphic design program at our local college.
I have two beautiful, talented and creative kids. Gabby is a 20 year old with a passion for dance and her own bath product business (shameless plug, look her up on Facebook at Bomb and Body!) Ty is a 13 year old with an absolutely amazing imagination, a scientific mind and crazy sense of humour. We live in a small town in Northern Ontario, where we have easy access to amazing trails and lakes in our own backyard. Loki, our beloved Chesapeake Bay Retriever, keeps us on our toes with his daily dose of mischief. I teach grade 4, in a French school, where everything (except an English class) is taught in French. My commute to school is about 40 minutes long, but I like the down time before and after school. I'm that weird woman singing and dancing behind the wheel of her car as if no one is watching! In my car, I'm a rockstar! Music is one of my favourite stress relievers, but I also enjoy getting a good workout on the mats with my jiujitsu training partners, and reading a good book before bed.
