My teaching experience began in Ontario at Brock University, when I was hired as a Teaching Assistant. After completing my Teacher's College I taught grades four to six for four years in the suburbs of Melbourne, Australia. In 2009, I came back to Ontario and have been teaching in the Niagara Region ever since.
I believe that students should have a say in how they approach learning so I try to structure learning tasks in a such a way that satisfies their need to explore, but also satisfies the requirements of the curriculum. For this to happen however, there has to be solid foundation from which to work from. For example, we cannot put students in an unfair position and ask them to solve multi-step problems without an understanding of concepts and basic skills, which can be later combined to solve such difficult problems. I love to provide visuals for my students and try to foster an hands-on approach whenever possible.
I am honoured to make quality products for fellow professionals and am always seeking to find new ways to be innovative and helpful to my colleagues.
I have a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Sociology, obtained from Brock University. I then completed my Teacher's College in Melbourne, Australia, at Deakin University.
I'm addicted to music - I write, play, and listen 24/7. The students I've taught can vouch for me... I'm also a sports junkie and love spending time with my fiancee Krystal and our amazing dog, Jeany.
