TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching music for over 20 years and I write songs for kids that help them to learn facts about topics that are relevant and linked to their learning. Catchy melodies stick around and while the songs are singable, some offer more challenging aspects of harmony and quick tempos. Others are written in specific scales (modes) and keys.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Overall, the emphasis is on fun. The learning then naturally follows. In the classroom, I focus on Kodaly with Pre-K to Y2 and build on these foundations through to Y6 while adding in more conventional and modern music-making. I encourage as much composition and ensemble playing as possible.
