TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been working with young children since I was sixteen years old, and was a counselor in training at summer camp. After seven years counseling, directing, teaching, and organizing camping and outdoor education programs, I began pursuing my teaching certification. I interned and worked at a Head Start, a daycare, and a Reggio Emilia based child development center with young children, all before finding my home as a kindergarten teacher for the public school system. I taught kindergarten in Michigan for eight years before taking a leap and moving to Australia! I have taught Foundation, Grade 1, and Grade 3/4 in Victoria, and I love the adventures that teaching always brings along!

MY TEACHING STYLE

I believe in a classroom that honors children where they are, and teaches them to be the best people they can be as they grow. I am energetic and creative, and use lots of songs, music, games, and hands on experiments and activities in my classroom. I am also passionate about workshop teaching, using both writing and reading workshops in my class to meet students exactly where they are and help them to move forward. Most of all, I believe that teachers need to connect with their students in order to inspire their learning and growth.
