I followed in my mother’s footsteps when I pursued a career in teaching. For fifteen years, I was fortunate enough to hone my craft at a school with amazing colleagues and fantastic students. In 2019, debilitating chronic migraines forced me to leave the classroom. The silver lining is that it gave me the opportunity start my own Teachers Pay Teachers store, Impossible Things Learning, and share my most effective teaching resources and strategies. Old favorites have been given new polish and expanded accessibility to make them even better. I'm also busy developing new resources to meet the evolving needs of teachers. I hope that the resources here at Impossible Things Learning become an indispensable part of your teaching toolkit!
My approach has always been student focused. I believe in making learning as accessible as possible for all students. I loved to build up their confidence (especially if history was a subject that they’d struggled with in the past).
My shining teacher moment was winning Teacher of the Quarter. The reason this distinction made me so proud was that it was awarded by the students (they were all given a chance to vote for their favorite teacher)!
I majored in History and minored in Drama at the University of Virginia (a wonderful four years). When I discovered my calling in the classroom (after substitute teaching), I attended courses at Old Dominion University and Virginia Wesleyan University to obtain my teaching certification.
I am married to a wonderful guy (my best friend) and have an adorable little Bichon Frise dog (my baby). I also love dollhouse miniatures and all things fantasy and geek like Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter!
