TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I taught for 33 years in public education covering all English classes from 6th grade through college. I was Dean of English my last 10 years and oversaw many teachers whose various styles and approaches to the classroom inspired me. I also attended and then taught many workshops on a variety of teaching methods. I love writing lesson plans and try to incorporate all learning styles into the lesson with a myriad of stratagems so that all students can be successful. My husband and one daughter taught math and another daughter has taught kindergarten and first grade so I have a well-rounded crew around me!

MY TEACHING STYLE

My own teaching style was fun but at the same time serious about learning. I used a variety of activities to enable all students to learn.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I was Teacher of the Year of my high school one year. I was one of four teachers chosen to travel out of state and learn a new technique in teaching through learning styles. Then I brought this knowledge back to our district and shared with all teachers. I was selected as the Spotlight Seller for the weekly TpT Newsletter. What a thrill and honor!

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I have a B.S. in Speech and English from Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. I have a Master of Arts degree in Speech and English from Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. I have attended workshops on brain research, learning styles, and many other educational strategies.
