I've been teaching in Japan for 15 years (primarily English, but I have taught the odd Math, Science, Social Studies and cooking classes as well). 10 years (and counting) teaching public elementary school as well as several years in conversation school (ages 2~79) prior to that.
Shoot for the middle, then raise the bar. Every class has star students and those who need to bear down. I target my lessons for the middle, call on the stars to volunteer and assist those who need extra help, ensuring the class progresses as a whole. Everyone gets a chance to shine and learn something new.
