Karla Cherwinski (who the kids call "Mrs. C") has been teaching elementary general music for 20 years, 15 of which have been at Indian Trail Elementary in Canal Winchester, Ohio where she works with Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd graders. Karla has also taught at The Colorado Kodály Institute at Colorado State University in Fort Collins for the last 8 years. Karla has degrees from the Kodály Institute at Capital, The Ohio Statue University, and has studied at the Zoltán Kodály Pedagogical Institute of Music in Kecskemét, Hungary. Karla is an advocate for integrating technology into the music classroom and has been active in her school as a Technology Support Assistant. Karla has presented interactive whiteboard sessions at several conferences for educational groups around the country including: OMEA, TriKE, MKMEA, NJMEA, ROCKE, and OAKE.

Karla is trained in the Kodály approach to music education but has also taken course work in Dalcroze and Orff.

Karla was awarded the Jéno Àdam Scholarship through the Organization of American Kodály Educators. This scholarship partially funded her study in Hungary at the Kodály Institute!

Karla teaches Level III Methodology and Folk Song Research at the Colorado Kodály Institute through Colorado State University in Ft. Collins. She also presents workshops and sessions around the country, including Ohio Music Educators Association, MidWest Kodály Music Educators of America, Organization of American Kodály Educators, New Jersey Music Educators Association and will be the elementary music headliner for the New York State Music in Educators Conference in December of 2015.
