I started tutoring students with disabilities in high school and continued through my undergraduate education. I also spent time substitute teaching, researching, and presenting best practices in special education. After graduation I worked in an Early Childhood classroom and started my M. Ed. in Learning & Technology. After completing my M.Ed. I moved into an elementary resource room teaching position. Most recently, I have been able to transition to a part-time teaching position to spend time with my 4 year old twins. I plan to return to full time teaching once they begin school, but I am savoring every minute of our time together for the next year!
My teaching style is very data-oriented, but I love to bring games into the classroom. I believe that games are especially beneficial for repetitive tasks such as practicing sight words and math facts. Since one of my undergrad majors is Cognitive Impairment I have spent years working with students who require significantly more repetition than most students in the typical classroom. This has motivated me to make game-based resources simple, engaging, and content-focused. It has also helped me realize how to break down larger standards into their smallest, most elemental parts.

I was homeschooled K-2nd grade. I went to 6 different schools between 3rd and 7th grade. I finished 7th-12th grade in Flint, Michigan. I had some incredible teachers who changed my life which lead me to pursue education. I found out that I had an even greater passion for special education, and that's how I ended up where I am today. I received my undergraduate degree from Eastern Michigan University with an Elementary Education teaching certificate and a Cognitive Impairment endorsement. I completed my M. Ed. in Learning and Technology in 2016 through Western Governors University.
I love teaching in the school classroom. I love teaching my own children at home. I love teaching in the youth programs at my church. I love helping my mom with secondary teaching material. I LOVE TEACHING! I'm sure you do, too.
