Prior to getting my teaching certificate, I did a whole series of long-term substitute assignments that ranged from two weeks to three months. During those assignments, I was in charge of making all the lesson plans so I learned to rely on myself when it came to making up cool lesson plans. Once I got hired, I taught U.S. Government and Sociology for four semesters, before I was assigned to teach World History. I taught it for seven years. Then I welcomed my favorite students, my two sons, and I took a leave of absence to stay with them. And to keep my foothold into the wonderful world of teaching that I love, I am dedicated to helping out other teachers in any way I can.
I strive on building a class based on interpersonal relationships where the students feel comfortable being who they are and expressing their thoughts freely. I love to differentiate- not just for the benefit of the students, but so that my job isn't boring or feels like the same routine all the time. I know that my students come into my classroom with various skills sets, and my role is to empower them to become lifelong learners.
Nominated for Teacher of the Year every year I was teaching from 2014-2019.
I got my Bachelors degree with a double major in Political Science and Sociology from the University of Michigan Dearborn. I then got my Masters in the Art of Communication that focused on Mediation, with a focus on children and families. THEN! I pursued my teaching certificate [Pol Science and Sociology] and finished up a Social Studies Endorsement. I taught Government and Sociology for a few years and then now teaching World History and loving it.
