TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I had the opportunity to work for seven years as a special education paraeducator. During that time I worked on my second degree in order to become a certified special education teacher. I am now in my 13th year as a teacher and love it!

MY TEACHING STYLE

As a visual learner myself, I think it is important to provide visual aids during the lessons that I teach. Students also need hands-on projects to help them understand the subject and hopefully make greater connections to real life. As a teacher in special education, I also find that repetition is very important so that students can gain knowledge of a subject and and start to dig in deeper and gain an understanding of how that subject applies to their own life.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I love that moment when, after struggling and struggling, a student finally gets it. As a teacher, I enjoy the challenge of trying to find new ways to present materials in the hopes that a student might understand. I feel that my shining moment as a teacher comes when we finally find that winning combination and the student comes to an understanding after working so hard!
