This rubric includes directions, a scoring system, and a story starter for students to create a story of historical fiction. The story starter can be used to generate ideas. I have also had students create a story board on the back of the paper. I have also differentiated this assignment by allowing students to create a graphic novel instead of a traditional story. This can be done in class, or outside of class.
