Students will get to show their knowledge of data and graphs by conducting a survey, gathering the responses, showing it in a graph, and creating some word problems about their graph. They can present it to the class to practice speaking skills as well. For early finishers, a "Challenge Page" is included where they must show their data in a different kind of graph. This project connects to both math and language common core standards. After learning about two-step word problems, students will complete the project by coming up with their own 2-step word problem. The students work as a cooperative group to create a "story" on story jumper.com including their word problem and solution using a bar model . The students then present their word problem and solution to the class. This could be adapted to a lower or higher level.
