The goal of Canada’s propaganda campaign was to entice people from other countries to immigrate to Canada in order to settle Canada West. The campaign would become known as the ‘Last Best West’.
Task: Create a propaganda poster to entice possible immigrants from another country to come to Canada to settle the West. Write a paragraph explaining your poster and the audience you intend on persuading to come to Canada’s West.

This is a really cute, fun assignment that requires students to create a guide for school-aged students in the 1950s-1980s regarding how to prepare and act during a bomb strike. This assignment is great in that students have a choice in how they want to present their information, allowing them to use their imaginations and get creative. My students love this activity, as it allows them to determine what they think are good things to include on a poster/infographic they would see in their school
