This is a reference poster I created to address the fact that, up until I created this resource, I had NEVER seen anything that specifically addressed Topic vs. Main Idea as a skill. There are many anchor charts and resources that help students distinguish the Main Idea versus Theme, but none were available for Topic versus Main Idea (topic sentence).
