Thinking aloud with a snazzy tune makes every day more fun! Visit My Blog |
I have been teaching for 15 years in various elementary grades. Now I teach second grade and I love those little buddies. Originally, I believed that I was the quintessential kindergarten teacher because I enjoy that age group, the curriculum, and the fact that they love to sing. However, as time moved on, I taught different grades due to various circumstances and discovered that I love second grade! They still like to sing with me as did the fourth and fifth graders, believe it or not. This is good news, because I can't make it through the day without singing.
You know how you get a song stuck in your head? My goal is to sing and chant skills, strategies, and content so that the kids smile while they are learning, accidentally sing the songs at home, and, eventually, have the songs “stuck in their heads.” After all, we want them to retain all that they have learned.
Believe it or not...The Stevie B's Favorite Teacher Award! The restaurant asked the students of the surrounding schools to come in and vote for their favorite teacher, so that each school would have a recipient of PIZZA FOR AN ENTIRE YEAR! I am SO glad that a former student was cheering for me and decided to campaign for me. Also, it did not hurt that all of those students like pizza as much as I do!
