TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I’ve been teaching music going on 16+ years now. From 4th graders to high school, I’ve taught at 8 different schools in both instrumental music, band, & orchestra. I’ve served as a judge at over a decade’s worth of solo & ensemble festivals. I’ve organized 100+ student concerts & performances and enjoy arranging pop music for them to play from Blackbird by the Beatles to the Final Countdown by Europe! I love collaborating with other teachers and sharing new ideas. I find this process critical to improving my own practice, especially since I am the only instrumental music teacher in my school. I frequently host student teachers (6 so far) and love watching new teachers work with my students and see how they both grow and develop!

MY TEACHING STYLE

I run a student-centered classroom where my goal is for students to drive their own learning. I take a whole child approach to my teaching, accepting kids for who they are, where they’re at, and trying to help them move forward. My medium for accomplishing that is music :) I’m passionate about creating great kids and great music!
