TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I love teaching and have over 10 years of teaching experience ranging from 3rd to 10th grade. This year I'm teaching 5th grade!

MY TEACHING STYLE

Fairness. As a teacher I believe the relationship you have with your students plays an important role in how much they will learn from you. Showing the students that your methods, rules, and discipline are fair is critical. As soon as students lose their confidence in you, your ability to teach them diminishes considerably.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Certified teacher in the state of Washington, B.S. in Elementary Education, M.S. from Boise State University in Instructional and Performance Technology

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I'm extremely interested in behavioral economics and it often inspires me to adapt my teaching style in the classroom. I'm a huge podcast fan and routinely listen to many of them such as Freakonomics and Hidden Brain. I highly encourage all teachers to take advantage of these fantastic free resources ; ) My educational movie guides prompt students to interact with the events and characters. Too often, students are just asked to regurgitate objective information about what they are watching. My goal however, it is to challenge students to think more deeply by analyzing, evaluating and applying concepts in the film.
