TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have taught English Language Arts at a comprehensive public high school for over 21 years. In that time, I have also served as Literacy Coach, Department Chair, Equity Professinal Development Leader, Assistant Principal for Summer School, and other leadership and professional roles, each with the purpose of providing engaging, equitable opportunities for students.

My teaching style is highly diverse, utilizing multiple modalities and structures and making sure students are activley and collaboratively constructing knowledge and critically thinking.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I've really enjoyed engaging in leadership roles. For example, I've been an Assistant Principal for my site's Summer School Program. I've mentored teachers as a Master Teacher for over ten years. I have been a coach both for Poetry Slams and for Debate Tournaments. I have worked as a Literacy coach for several years and have served as an co-chair for the English Language Arts Department. I have also served on committees which have taken the lead in curriculum development at my site as well as equity professional development. In all these endeavors, my goals has always been to boost equitable access for our students and provide them as many opportunitites and avenues as possible to maximize their fullest potential.
