I am a science teacher and professional development coach with over 20 years of experience at all secondary levels from 7th grade up to 12th grade Science. I have taught and developed lessons for all levels including English Language Learners, mainstream SPED, honors and AP. Read my blog site at www.teachingAPscience.com for great ideas and picture tutorials. I have a Masters Degree in Science Curriculum and Instruction and lead workshops at the district, state and national level.
My lessons are strategic to make sure everything I do gives a lot of "bang for the buck". I also develop lessons that teach kids how to be self-learners. I stay away from direct lecture whenever possible and develop labs and activities that guide students to the correct answers without me. I love and use the 5E model of instruction frequently and have recently flipped my AP class. In addition, I believe that anything we do that saves us time as a teacher makes us better, because we don't get burned out.
