TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching for over 10 years. I have taught in a range of classroom settings from severe high needs special education setting to senior academic English courses. Currently I am a special education and alternative education teacher, as well as teaching learning strategies and English courses for special education students. To help students recover their credits I am responsible for developing credit recovery packages and units that they can work on independently with clear and deliberate instructions.

MY TEACHING STYLE

After working in a range of special education settings, I have learned the importance of scaffolding and chunking lessons to help make curriculum more attainable for students. Creating visually appealing materials that are engaging and interesting for students is a key factor for them to be able to complete the tasks being assigned to them. I also am a strong believer that having small packages of work that can be supplemented with interactive activities during lectures is essential to appealing to all learning styles.
