My experience includes teaching 3rd grade in a bi-lingual school in the Dominican Republic, home schooling my son for two years, teaching middle school science for the past 4 years, and teaching bible to adults in the Dominican Republic. I went back to school in my 40’s for my Master of Science in Education (the science of teaching and learning). I also worked for several years as a writer for the Newburyport Daily News in Massachuestts. However my greatest learning experinces came from my three chldren, including one with Asperger’s (high-functioning Autism).
Teaching is an active process. I tend to have a noisy classroom incorporting songs, skits, drama, and activity to demonstrate and practice learning. The greatest complement came from a student “Mrs. Warren, I can never take a rest in your class because you alway have us doing stuff”. It is a lively , fun mess with ton of learning. Pre-assessments, student-created rubrics, self-assessments, goal setting, student-led parent conferences, and authentic (meaningful and applicable) assignments are used.

I am a Christian. I am a wife and a mother of three children. As a family we lived in the Dominican Repubic for 11 years. We speak pretty good spanish and love Dominican food. I began my professional teaching career late, going back to school in my 40’s and recieving my MSEd two years ago when I turned 50! Yikes. Luckily we are as young as we feel and I feel young: I love yoga, bicycling, skiing, gardening , creating things, writing, and healthy eating. I look as the positive side to life. I feel God is in control, and it is better for us to stay in the back seat and let Him drive the car. Life is so much easier (and more exciting) this way!
