I've been teaching 7th grade ELA for over 20 years, and I never plan to stop! In addition to my teaching, I'm a national speaker presenting for Keeping the Wonder and Get Your Teach On all across the country. I'm a curriculum writer, a blogger, and a soon-to-be author (my first book comes out July 2022). I've worked as a curriculum ambassador for 7-12 ELA in my district and region training teachers how to adapt their curriculum to be more standards based. Most of all, I love teachers. 20+ years in the classroom has shown me that teachers work harder than anyone I know. If I can do anything to save teachers time and help them to engage their students, I will. Teachers are my heroes!
The most important thing to me is my relationships with my students. Without a bond and mutual respect, nothing else is possible. The best part of my job is definitely the moment I implement my lessons and see my students LEARNING and GROWING. I believe in standards based learning and grading, data driven instruction, and adopting a growth mindset. I believe that students are always capable of more than we could ever dream when we give them a chance and involve them in the learning process.
