My teaching philosophy is that dance is for every body! I incorporate history and other cross-curricular elements into my teaching of dance technique from beginning through advanced/pre-professional levels. I work collaboratively with my students to create choreography that connects with and challenges them.

Sarah Shoemaker has over 20 years of directing, choreographing and dance teaching experience. Sarah has been on staff in the performing arts department at a public charter high school since 2014, and she teaches tap and jazz at a private studio since 2020. She also choreographs for local community theatre productions. Previously, Sarah created the dance program at a private high school in Los Angeles County serving as its director for seven years. She has developed a comprehensive dance curriculum, and has written and gained UC a-g approval for multiple dance courses.
