TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been a dance educator for the past 10 years in a studio setting. This is my first year teaching dance in the NYC Department of Education. I teach many different styles — ballet, tap, jazz, modern, hip hop, and latin dance. Some of my students have competed in National and Regional Dance competitions and have won awards.

MY TEACHING STYLE

It is very important for me to teach my students all aspects of the world of dance. My curriculum focuses on different dance genres (cultural, social and performance), dance history, technique, and improvisation (creative movement).

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

National Dance Showcase Choreography Award 2018. Arnhold Graduate Dance Education Program - Excellence in Dance History 2021.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

- Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music and Arts and the Performing Arts (The Fame School) - The Fashion Institute of Technology (Bachelors) - Hunter College/Arnhold Graduate Dance Education Program (Masters)

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I am a native New Yorker from Queens and started my dance training at the age of five. I’ve been teaching children and teens at multiple dance studios for the past ten years; specifically in ballet, modern, tap, jazz and hip hop. Many of my classes have competed in regional and national dance competitions, winning various choreography awards and placing in the top five category. I attended the Fashion Institute of Technology, graduating with a BS in Advertising and Marketing Communications and most recently, I received my MA in Dance Education from the Arnhold Graduate Dance Education Program at Hunter College. I am also a graduate of the prestigious Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and the Performing Arts. I studied ballet and modern dance, specifically Graham and Horton technique under the guidance of Deborah Zall, Elisa King, and Cassandra Phifer, among others. Lastly, I volunteer for my alma mater by choreographing the annual school musical. I have choreographed pieces for Shrek the Musical JR., Big the Musical, The Lion King JR. and more.
