I have taught grades 9-11 at the high school level for 18 years, specializing in reading strategies, standardized test prep, literary analysis and persuasive writing, educational technology and literature.
I like to run a very organized, standards-based classroom where students know what is expected of them and how to accomplish it. Emphasis is on preparing students for higher level English classes, life beyond high school and standardized tests such as the SBAC and EOC's.
I have been the English Department Chair for the past 5 years, have been nominated a Who's Who Teacher twice, have been an Intel Teach to the Future instructor, a Critical Friends Coach, and a Peer Mentor.
I have a Bachelor's Degree in English and a Masters Degree in Education from the University of Washington. I am dual endorsed in English and Social Studies.
I am the proud mother of a college graduate, an avid first adopter of technology, and I enjoy reading, sewing, crafts, and gardening.
