I have had the pleasure to tutor all ages from elementary school to college and teach both middle school and high school mathematics. I have taught a class geared to prepare students for the HSPA (if you are looking for materials to prepare students for a similar test, simply let me know - I have created a ton!) I also have experience teaching a college prep level of Geometry (which has probably been my favorite so far), as well as courses designed to prepare students for success on the Algebra II and Geometry PARCC assessments. I am currently teaching a small-group level of Algebra I, a regular level of Algebra I, and a College Prep level of Algebra II. I have also taught a standard level of Pre-Calculus.
*Math is proof that possibilities are infinite, and that reason can always be discovered.* I believe that all students are capable of learning, and that knowledge is more meaningful when discovered. I strongly encourage reasoning, justification, application/analyzation of problem-solving strategies, communicating clearly using correct mathematical terminology, checking for reasonableness, student self-assessment, and extending the solution of a problem to more complex problems. I also advocate cooperative learning within the classroom. My desire is for my students to have a positive learning experience, and apply the values of integrity, empathy, patience, and willpower to uncover the intriguing concepts the mathematical world holds. Through working with mathematics in such a way, I hope for my students to develop a true conceptual understanding of mathematics and its specifics. It is also my goal for my students to be able to apply the concepts of mathematics to various situations in careers, the world, and life in general.
- Valedictorian of Kean University, class of 2011 (4.0 GPA)
- attained Master's Degree in Mathematics Education at Rutgers University
About my Products: While the PARCC assesses many of the mathematical practice standards, I aim to create many problems and activities that require students to apply the skills outlined in the performance level descriptors. I believe that the more students are exposed to such types of work, the more likely they are to develop a conceptual understanding of the concepts & of their own learning, succeed on the PARCC, and hence the more likely they are to be prepared for success in college and/or their future careers. If you happen to have any questions or concerns regarding anything your purchase (or download for free), please do not hesitate to contact me! Have a wonderful school year! :) *I typically do not include answer keys, since I believe there is strong value in working out problems on our own as educators to see which various routes our students may take in solving any given problem. This will help us to reach the unique needs of our students, as we will have more of a direct relationship in understanding their possible thought processes.
