I have been teaching in a public school setting for 24 years and I have loved every last bit of it! I'm still excited to go to work each day and spend much of my free time planning new ways to challenge the munchkins. :)
My classroom tends to be a bit noisy with munchkins moving all about the room independently. I prefer a whole child approach to teaching with hands-on experiences, and enjoy teaching with limited worksheets. I have adopted a family atmosphere in which the kiddos seem to thrive and while nothing is perfect, sometimes it comes pretty close. :) Visit me at http://www.kindiekins.com/ :)
In the not so distant past, I've been honored to represent my school district as District Elementary Teacher of the Year. I've been a Balanced Literacy lead teacher, Model Reading Teacher in a large school district, Teacher of the Year, nominated for Texas Teaching Chair of Excellence and just plain honored that parents trust me with care of their kiddos each year.
I have a bachelors degree in elementary education with a specialization in early childhood, an ESL endorsement, and a Masters Degree in curriculum and instruction with an emphasis on ELAR.
I share my life with my best friend and our 2 furry children and I spend my free time gleaning inspiration from other teachers so that I can better challenge my classroom of kiddos. I also love to paint with acrylics on canvas, listen to music, read, take lots of random photographs, and dream about traveling the world. :)
