TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I teach 7th grade Language Arts and 10th grade Composition in the Stevens Point School District, and I student taught at Amherst High School in the Tomorrow River School District. I have experience with all levels of literacy instruction through my work experience outside teaching; I teach an adult ESL class and work with many adult ESL and ABE learners as Literacy Programs Manager at the Portage County Literacy Council, and I also worked as the Reading Program Coordinator at the Boys & Girls Club of Portage County where the focus was on members in grades one through three.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Student-centered approach with authentic activities and assessments. I always try to give my students context and help them make connections to their own lives. Providing relevancy is critical for all students, but becomes more important as they get older; it is one of the most important motivators for my adult learners.
