Kelley's Korner

I have taught for 20 years. My first three years were in a private school in North Carolina, an ideal place to get my feet wet. Believe it or not, during those three years I taught grades 3-8, coached soccer and basketball, started an elementary science club, coached a Science Olympiad team, went back to school to earn my masters degree, and won teacher of the year for my school and a top finalist for my county. I then taught 5th grade for two years at a public school before returning home to New York, where I have spent the last 15 years teaching 6th grade and coaching JV girls soccer.

I love quotes! I use them all the time, to inspire, to motivate, to reflect. One of my favorites is from Henry Ford. "If you think you can or can't, you're right." I feel my job as an educator/coach is to help all my students/athletes not only think they can, but believe they can (in the most fun way possible, of course!).
