I have always worked with young children and currently teach first grade. Yes, I am still a full time classroom teacher! I am trained in Reading Recovery and I did literacy intervention for first grade students for 15 years. I taught kindergarten for 21 years. I love working with young students and families. I absolutely LOVE my job!!!
I consider myself creative practitioner of the teaching arts. My classroom is a vibrant place where young students can learn and grow using a variety of media and modalities. We do arts, crafts, games and hands on learning experiences that engage children in the collaborative work of learning together. There are many opportunities for critical thinking and creative expression each day. I want my students to LOVE learning and I consider that the most important part of my job.
