TEACHING EXPERIENCE

30+ years teaching and still loving it! I think I was born to be a teacher. Now that I've retired, I cannot lose that part of me. I hope to still bring my best to the profession-- fun and high quality lessons that endure through the fads and trends of the day.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I am a recently retired reading specialist with experience working with children in K-8. I have used whatever strategies, approaches, techniques and materials that fit the needs of my students, in particular, a variety of programs and approaches for teaching reading and writing. Often we forget that kids know more than they think they do! I'm a firm believer in expecting the most and best out of each student, as long as I too, do my best as a teacher. Believing in their success DOES help them see their own potential and success!

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

~Outstanding Teacher Award, 1999~ ~My most rewarding moments are when a child comes up to me and asks if we can "read that book again"!

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

~Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education ~Masters Degree in Education ~Elementary Endorsement for K-6 ~Reading Specialist Endorsement for K-12 ~Orton-Gillingham Associate Level Certificate, A/AOGPE
