I have been teaching ESL in Taiwan for over 7 years. I have taught ages from 2 on to adults. In the states, I subbed for a couple years and stuck mostly to Middle Schools with occasional Elementary and High School jobs. Currently I am English Coordinator and Trainer of our ESL program. By next semester I'll have eight teachers under me.
I love teaching the little ones. They really are excited to learn and grow. I'd say my style is a lot of hands on, role play, music, song and dance. Flashcards are a good way to teach vocabulary. We don't just drill, we drill for about 5 minutes and then open up to a game or role play. When it came to subbing, I followed the plans well. I have had students come up and tell me, "You're the first sub I have learned something from." I was on about 4 schools "first to call" lists for a sub. I'm proud to leave that impression on schools.
I've received awards for plenty of things, just not for education.
I got my degree in Arts.
I'm an all around artist and enjoy creating for learning.
