TEACHING EXPERIENCE

After 19 years in education, this is my 3rd year in 1st grade. Previously I spent 9 years as a classroom teacher (2nd, 3rd, and 5th) plus 7 years as an Instructional Coach (specifically Literacy Coach) in Title 1 schools across 2 states and 7 school districts. I'm also a 2-year TN Common Core Coach.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Because I teach, I see the world differently. I've looked intently into the eyes of hundreds of children. I see their cry to be loved, heard, and valued. If you could walk where I've walked, you'd see it too.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

In 2013 I was selected to be a state Common Core Coach and received extensive training in the reading foundational skills. Again in 2014, I was selected to be a Core Coach...this time focusing on writing to sources in the 3 text-types.
