My name is Ashley and I have been teaching a tested math subject in Texas for the last 14 years!! I started my journey with Algebra 2 because TAKS was tested to our sweet juniors. Once the state made the change to STAAR and the testing shifted to the Algebra 1 Course I moved to Algebra 1, which is where I have been since. I spent a year as an instructional coach and have helped a few districts write their new curriculum as the new TEKS came out in 2012. I have spent a lot of time with the Algebra SEs, learning and breaking down their verbs and key points. My library of resources will continue to grow and change as my students’ needs change. I use an interactive notebook in class and find that it helps the students like a security blanket. This gives them something to always refer to when struggling (and we know students struggle in math). I hope you find something in my mess of resources to help make your job and life a little easier. I also hope you refer your fellow colleagues and friends to my page if they need any help and guidance. Thank you and have a blessed day!! Your Fellow Teacher
I like to talk as little as possible so that my students have the opportunity to teach and learn from each other. Group work is a must and I love to have my students up around the room to keep class work from getting boring. The classroom must be a safe place for mistakes and filled with support and love.
