TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I was an English Language Development teacher for 5 years and am now teaching 5th grade in a low SES school with an 80% Hispanic population. I was trained in Susana Dutro's Systematic ELD and Constructing Meaning Programs. I enjoyed CM so much that I am now a trainer for their Elementary Constructing Meaning Program.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My passion is working with English Language Learners and promoting Academic English through direct language language instruction with fun and engaging activities. I want my students to be prepared for college and their subsequent careers and I believe it is my job to teach them the skills and language necessary to be successful. Because of the population I work with, I believe in Sheltered Instruction and use Constructing Meaning along with GLAD strategies and philosophies.
