I have 36 years of experience as a physics and chemistry teacher. I was an co-author on the Teacher's Edition of a Glencoe Merrill high school physics text and have written ancillary materials for Glencoe and Holt in the areas of chemistry, physics, physical science, and environmental science. I am constantly developing new materials for my students. I love to create an innovative lab or challenge that gets them thinking! It makes me happy when my students think something is easy because of how I've presented it. It's important to me that the products I sell are ready to go out of the box. The teacher instructions are clear and concise, the information for making the solutions is exactly right, and I've pointed out the problems you'll have in terms of safety, student errors, and managing materials. I'm proud of what I do and happy to share it with you. I've done some great work turning party tricks into labs and creating fun activities that cost pennies per student! Check out the match head rockets, my version of the micro-mole rockets (Flinn sells a kit that I can't afford), the two stage balloon rocket, paper airplanes, etc. Whether you need something to get your students thinking or something to drive the point home, I've either got it here, or I am working on it!
I am a hands on teacher with a great sense of humor. I work to make engaging lessons that ask students to think for themselves. I love activities that have students saying, "Hey, look at this!" My favorite teaching day is when 3rd period comes screeching into class, "Do we get to ..." because the lab I did earlier in the day has students talking all over the school. I'm big on safety. I teach my students to be respectful of chemicals and equipment, but not afraid. Learning how to handle all the amazing stuff in science is one of those things that makes them successful students.
