TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have taught in Georgia for five years in a co-teaching classroom. I previously taught one year of AP Economics and AP US History at our corresponding high school.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Hands on, positive, upbeat, engaging, and outside of the box. I love to include labs, projects, art, and music whenever possible and use an array of technology when teaching.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I am a 7th grade life science teacher in Georgia. I am in my 5th year in the classroom and my second career. I attended the University of Georgia and graduated with a Bachelor’s of Business Administration in Finance. After working in finance and accounting for five years and feeling unfulfilled, I went back to complete my Master’s in Secondary Education at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga to pursue my passion for education. I seek to create a positive, engaging, and hands-on classroom environment and provide students with new and unique educational experiences. In my first year of teaching, I founded the Giving Garden. The Giving Garden is a student-built garden at the school that gives students the opportunity to grow and care for their own plants. All of the food generated in the garden is donated to families in need in the community. I also received a $10,000 grant from the Mozilla foundation to purchase innovative, virtual reality goggles to take students on field trips around the world from within my own classroom. Each year, I livestream the hatching of ducks and chickens in our classroom incubator on YouTube so that students, community members, and the school can tune in to catch all of the eggcitement!
