I have been teaching children with special needs for more than 20 years. I have taught Preschool to grade 8, but really enjoy grades 4,5, and 6.
I believe in a multi sensory approach to learning. As a teacher of special needs students, not all children learn the same way. It is important for teachers to provide students the opportunity to find their best learning modality and improve on it.
One of the greatest rewards is when former students "friend request" me on Facebook! It is great to know that I was able to provide them with positive learning memories!
I earned my BA in Elementary Education with a minor in Special Education and my MS in Reading Literacy from Dowling College in Oakdale, NY.
In 2007 when my only child was 10 years old, we moved from Long Island, New York, to Bellingham, Washington to provide her the opportunity to flourish her love for animals and nature. She is currently studying Animal Science with an emphasis in Veterinary Medicine at Washington State University. She is on her way to Veterinary School!
