I have been teaching 6-7 grade ELA for five years! I recently obtained a Masters degree in Teaching with a concentration in Secondary (6-12).
I lean toward project-based learning, acting more as a facilitator than an instructor most days. I spend about 20 minutes per week "lecturing" to my students (usually in the form of group discussion), and then I give them assignments (individual and group) that engage their critical thinking abilities. I am available for help during this work but always encourage students to explain their reasoning before I intervene.
Middle School Greene-Orr Award (our school's Teacher of the Year award) in 2023
I attended Georgia College and State University and received a BA in English Literature in 2017 and an MAT in Secondary Education in 2022, the same year that my twins were born.
I am a teacher second and a wife/mama of twin two-year-old terrors first! I love education and am specifically passionate about curriculum design in the ELA classroom.
